Superior East OPP-Wawa Detachment are investigating a wolf attack that occurred Monday.

A wolf at Katherine’s Cove in Lake Superior Provincial Park, about 2 hours north of Sault Ste. Marie, attacked 5 people.

All 5 parties received non-life threatening injuries and were transported by ambulance to Lady Dunn Hospital in Wawa where they were treated for their injuries.

The wolf was shot and killed by park officials and transported to Sault Ste. Marie where arrangements for forensic testing will be made. It is unknown what provoked the attacks at this point in the investigation. The Algoma Health Unit will be monitoring this incident and will relay the testing results to the victims.

Katherine’s Cove is located 70 kms south of Wawa and is a popular tourist attraction area with its sandy beaches.
